Hemmant AMIN, Founder & Chairman

Hemmant is the founder & elected Chairman of the BRKets investor group.

He is the promoter, Chairman & CEO of Kawamin Pacific Pte Ltd., Singapore, a global industrial raw material procurement house founded in 1993. Assisted by its subsidiary Kawamin Shipping Pte Ltd., the parent company is ranked among Singapore's 'fastest growing 50' companies across all sectors by the DP information group of Singapore in 2005.

Hemmant is also the promoter & Director of Allindia Technologies Ltd., India, a leading Information technology & web Solutions Company in Eastern India founded in 1997. The company counts giants of Indian Industry like Tata Steel, ITC & the Aditya Birla Group among its clients. It also owns & manages one of the largest and most popular alumni websites in India www.batchmates.com with over 1.5 million members.

From Nov '93 to Mar '98, Hemmant was also the Executive Director and strategic shareholder of Steel Tubes of Singapore Pte. Ltd., a major producer of tubing in ASEAN. The company was an Indian - Japanese joint venture company formed in equity partnership with Japanese firms Kobe Steel Ltd., Tokyo Boeki Ltd. and Japan Asean Investment corporation (JAIC).

Hemmant began his investment career whilst still a student in 1985 in London, UK. As a then private equity investor, he was looking to participate in the boom enjoyed by the then vibrant UK economy. Working as an audit trainee with Coopers & Lybrand, provided valuable insights into the business models & financial workings of companies in diverse fields and thus began a life long passion at being a business analyst.

After moving to Singapore in 1993, Hemmant's investment methodology has been highly influenced by the teachings of the leaders of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. namely Mr. Charlie Munger & Mr. Warren Buffett who are widely considered to be the world's greatest allocaters & compounders of capital. In particular he has been profoundly motivated by the following statement.

"I am a better business owner because I am an Investor and I am a better Investor because I am a business owner" Warren E. Buffett

Thus the business model adopted by Hemmant is to own & manage businesses that generate high return on equities & free cash flow. These cash flows, combined with dividend income from equity investments are then used to invest in a selected number of companies with superior business models and Durable competitive advantages to ensure better long term compounded investment growth. The methodology is one of 'focused investing' which ensures that one is invested in no more than 10 well researched and well understood companies at any given time. Geographically, due to close proximity to management, the investment focus has been on Singapore, Chinese & Indian listed companies.
In addition to managing proprietary funds belonging to the Kawamin Group, Hemmant works closely with a select group of fund managers in the investment community, who between them manage investments in excess of US$ 350 million. This enables BRKets to attract the attention of additional investors to participate in the growth of outstanding companies where BRKets members have invested funds.

Hemmant graduated with a Double Major (Joint Honors) in Accounting & Economics from the University of Kent, Canterbury, U.K. in 1990. Hemmant is also an alumnus of Davies's College, London, St. Mary's High School, Mt. Abu, India, and K.C. College in Bombay, India.
